CONVENTION VISITORS BUREAU OF MONROEVILLE ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Monroeville, PA – December 22, 2009. The Board of Directors of the Convention Visitors Bureau of Greater Monroeville announced the appointment of Karrie Burns as the organization’s new Executive Director. Ms. Burns most recently served as General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott, 3962 William Penn Highway. She assumes her new duties on February 1.
In making the announcement Sean Logan, Board President, praised the efforts of the Search Committee which has worked diligently over the past few months to identify the appropriate candidate. “Ms. Burns brings a wealth of hospitality experience and a strong knowledge of Monroeville to the position,” he said. “We were fortunate to find the right person from within our own hotel community.”
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Waynesburg College, Ms. Burns has over 14 years of professional experience in the food and beverage and hospitality industry. She has developed a reputation for dedication to her employer and clients, a strong work ethic, effective team leadership, and team building. Prior to her work at the Courtyard, Ms. Burns served as General Manager for the Holiday Inn Express in Harmarville; Assistant General Manager for the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Food and Beverage Manager for the Holiday Inn Meadowlands in Washington, PA. She also served as a Quality Review Specialist for the Lodgian Corporate Office in Atlanta, GA.
“I'm very excited about having the opportunity to assume the position of Executive Director for the Convention Visitors Bureau of Greater Monroeville,” Ms. Burns said. “I look forward to working with the businesses of Monroeville to promote our market."
Lance Rihn, General Manager of the Doubletree Pittsburgh Monroeville Convention Center who also serves as Vice President of the CVB Board, praised the Board’s decision. “We look forward to working with Ms. Burns to promote our fabulous new convention center and all that Monroeville has to offer to the convention and trade show industry.”
